Choosing the right size rug is extremely important in a more compact living room. Using too large of your rug will wrap up seeming like the main flooring, or carpet, in a room. Using too small of your rug can appear to be an afterthought and unplanned design component. You won't have right influence on your decorating as a well-planned and prepared rug. Essentially you should choose a rug that is large enough to protect the guts of the ground, but not too large that of the furniture along the perimeter of the area rests fully on top of it. If you change the rug such that it covers more of 1 side of an area leaving exposed floor coverings on the other side, you will again aesthetically change the looks of the size of the area. Small living spaces can be greatly increased by choosing and using the right carpets.
If you are using your living area as a space where you watch tv or movies usually the placement of the furniture and Television set or projector is even more important. Placing the television and seating furniture along contrary walls is often the best and possibly only real solution, proper placement of a location rug can help keep your room from visually shrinking. Place the area rug before or underneath the tv set then place the furniture along the contrary outside edge of the rug. This visually expands your living area and can keep you from feeling too cramped. When possible, use a rounded or oval formed rug to remove a boxy feel.
