Choosing the right size rug is extremely important in a smaller sized living room. Using too big of the rug will conclude seeming like the main floors, or carpet, in an area. Using too small of an rug can look like an afterthought and unplanned design component. It will not have the right influence on your decorating as a well thought out and organized rug. Essentially you should choose a rug that is large enough for the center of the ground, but not too large that of the furniture along the perimeter of the area rests fully together with it. If you shift the rug so that it covers more of 1 side of a room leaving exposed floor on the other hand, you will again aesthetically change the looks of the size of the area. Small living rooms can be greatly enhanced by choosing and using the right area rugs.
If the living room is on small side, make sure you are aware of the furnishings you are adding into that room. It is important never to overburden a smaller space with too many furniture pieces or too large of furniture. The keeping furniture and carpets in a tiny space is essential. To be able to visually expand the space, keep furniture toward the wall surfaces. Clumping furniture too close mutually, or too close to the center of the area, will visibly shrink an already small space.
