Placing the television and seats furniture along opposite walls is usually the best and possibly only solution, proper placement of a location rug will help maintain your room from aesthetically shrinking. Place the area rug before or underneath the tv set then place the furniture along the opposite outside border of the rug. This aesthetically expands your living area and will keep you from sense too cramped. If possible, use a circular or oval molded rug to eliminate a boxy feel.
